Hook Village Carols around the Christmas Tree

Wednesday 4th December 2019 at 6.00 pm 

The children walked from school by candlelight to the hall via Mad Dog Lane/Valway with teachers and parents. 

(With a special visit from Father Christmas.  Hook School pupils arrived to sing carols around the tree at 6.00 pm.  Groups in the village held stalls.  The WI served mulled wine, mince pies, tea/coffee and more.  Hook Parish Council raffle proceeds donated to Hook School along with any other kind donations £221.00.

 REMEMBRANCE DAY 2019

Poppies on lampposts were displayed in the village once again.  Additional poppies were displayed - a big thank you to Hook in Bloom and village residents for their generous donations.  All proceeds have been donated to the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal.

 HOOK NEWS 

Below are just a few of the items Hook Parish Council has covered during 2018/2019: 
* Successful funding applications resulted in a total of £14,000.00 towards the refurbishment and new play equipment      in the Play Park (via Goole Wind Farm/Big Lottery Awards for All and Tesco Bags of Help). A further £1,000.00 Tesco    funding secured – for 2 benches to be sited at the Contemplation Garden.
* The Play Park fencing and gate installed by Goole Welding via the successful Goole Wind Farm funding.
* Garth Lane 20mph speed limit and zebra crossing received a negative response from ERYC. 
* Land and ponds at Westfield Lake - ERYC Planning - ongoing.
* Further accidents and condition of the road in Westfield Lane reported to the ERYC. Ongoing campaign to make the      road safer.
* Play Park tree planting undertaken via Sixpenny Wood Wind Farm funding.
* HPC raised £50.00 at the Hook Celebration Day towards the Village Christmas Event.
* HPC continue with the upkeep of the defibrillator. Checks by HPC/NHW.
* Boulder in place at the Gala Field to alleviate unauthorised access.
* Poppies purchased via donations from residents/village groups for display on lampposts for Remembrance Day.
* Work completed on the Contemplation Garden, funded by Hook St Mary's Church and HPC.
* Village Christmas event - £228.45 donated to Hook St Mary's Church.
